Boona FC secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Kabungo FC in a friendly match held at Kabungo Playground in Ntungamo District, as hundreds of enthusiastic residents turned up to show support for 91.8 Boona FM and its upcoming activities.
The highly attended match attracted residents from Kabungo Parish in Rwenanura–Kakukuru Town Council, creating a lively atmosphere as Boona FM FC from Rukungiri District faced off with the hosts, Kabungo FC.
Boona FC dominated the game from the start, with Tinyefuuza Sadam netting two goals in the first half to give the visitors an early lead. Tukamuhebwa Medard sealed the victory with a third goal in the 79th minute, ensuring a comfortable win for the Rukungiri-based side.
The match was organized and sponsored by 91.8 Boona FM as part of preparations for its 9th anniversary celebrations, dubbed “Ekigutuuro Rwatangoma,” scheduled to take place on July 11, 2026, at Rukungiri Main Stadium.
Beyond the competition, the event fostered unity and interaction between the two communities, with many residents expressing excitement about the upcoming celebrations. Some attendees went ahead to purchase early bird tickets, while others pledged their support for the event.
Speaking after the match, the Chief News Editor of Boona FM, who also serves as Assistant Manager, thanked the residents for their warm reception and participation. He commended the spirit of unity displayed and encouraged continued support for the station, noting that more friendly matches will be held as part of the build-up to the anniversary celebrations.
