The Catholic Diocese of Kabale has received a spiritual boost after Bishop Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira ordained four priests and eight deacons at a colorful ceremony held at Our Lady of Good Shepherd Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale Municipality.
In his homily, Bishop Rubaramira emphasized the central role of the ordained clergy in fostering unity and strengthening faith within communities. He urged the new priests and deacons to dedicate their lives to bringing people closer to Christ through humility, service, and unwavering faith.
“Your mission is not to represent yourselves but Christ who has chosen you. Serve God’s people with love, guide them in faith, and heal both their spiritual and physical wounds,” Bishop Rubaramira told the ordinands.
The newly ordained priests include Rev. Frank Atuzarirwee (Kitanga Parish, Rukiga), Rev. Mark Aheisibwe (Nyarushanje Parish, Rukungiri), Rev. Onesmus Ahabwe (Muchahi Parish, Rubanda), and Rev. Stephen Niwandinda (Ndama Parish).
The eight seminarians elevated to the deaconate are Rev. Adon Aturinde, Rev. Cyril Arthur Ayebazibwe, Rev. Syrus Aharizira, Rev. Deusdedit Niwagaba, Rev. Ivan Ndamira, Rev. Justus Turyatunga, Rev. Peregirino Beinomugisha, and Rev. Sostine Mugisha.
The Bishop reminded the deacons of their sacred vows, particularly chastity, and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their spiritual journey, avoiding worldly distractions while seeking strength from the Holy Spirit.
The event drew large crowds of faithful and was graced by notable leaders, including Kabale District Woman MP Catherine Atwakire Ndamira, Kabale Municipality MP Dr. Nicholas Kamara, Ndorwa East MP Wilfred Niwagaba, and Kabale LC5 Chairperson Nelson Nshangabasheija.
