Our Lady of Fatima Community, Rushoroza Parish, was filled with joy and gratitude on Saturday as Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira, Bishop of Kabale Diocese, presided over a colorful thanksgiving Mass to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of four sisters of the Daughters of Our Lady of Fatima (DOLF).

The celebrations were combined with a fundraising drive towards the completion of a new residence for elderly sisters. The campaign aimed at raising UGX 248 million, and by the close of the event, Christians had generously contributed UGX 191.9 million in cash and pledges, along with 475 bags of cement.

In his homily, Bishop Rubaramira reminded the faithful that everyone is gifted with unique blessings from the Holy Spirit, urging them to use these gifts in service to the community. He emphasized unity, joy, and living faithfully in Christ’s love as a foundation for harmony and the spread of the Gospel.

The jubilarians — Sr. Specioza Tushemereirwe, Sr. Judith Byembabazi, Sr. Sephoroza Kantayomba, and Sr. Agnes Kakuru — were honored for their 50 years of devoted service to God and humanity. Their dedication was described as an inspiration for the younger generation of religious and lay faithful alike.

Speaking on behalf of the congregation, Sr. Scholastica Kyobutungi thanked well-wishers for their generosity and highlighted the need for better facilities to care for aging sisters. She also reaffirmed the congregation’s mission of promoting peace, reconciliation, and salvation through the message of Our Lady of Fatima.
