Rt Rev Onesmus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, has called on clergy to handle believers with humility, emphasizing that the church brings together people of various backgrounds and God uses everyone without discrimination.

Bishop Asiimwe made the remarks during the installation of Venerable Ronald Natuwhera as Archdeacon of St Paul’s Church of Uganda Kasoroza Parish Archdeaconry in Nyakagyeme Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

He encouraged the clergy to not only preach the Gospel but also teach their congregations how to overcome poverty by embracing development initiatives such as coffee growing. The Bishop, a strong advocate for coffee farming, reminded the church that the God they serve is not a poor God and urged collaboration with government programs for community development.

Bishop Asiimwe praised Venerable Natuwhera as a hardworking servant of God and urged him to continue preaching a holistic Gospel. He also called on believers to support and respect their new leader, while appealing to parents to prioritize education for their children, describing it as the ultimate equalizer in life.

In his speech, Head of Laity at St Paul’s C.O.U Kasoroza Archdeaconry, Edson Muwhezi Mpirime, expressed gratitude for the progress in evangelism and noted that many Christians are actively contributing to the construction of a bigger archdeaconry church. He said coffee growing is helping boost church income and revealed plans to improve church-affiliated schools. He pledged full cooperation with the Archdeacon to further develop the parish.

Venerable Ronald Natuwhera expressed appreciation to the people of Nyakagyeme for their love and care. He pledged his total commitment to working with Christians to develop the archdeaconry and appealed for physical, spiritual, and financial support to advance God’s work.

The event was graced by Minister of Security and Rujumbura County Member of Parliament, Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, who commended the Bishop for delivering a message focused on both spiritual and developmental growth. The minister pledged 500 bags of cement towards the construction of the new church building and called for peace and unity among the people.
