The Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, Bishop of the North Kigezi Diocese, has cautioned Christians to refrain from alcoholism and immoral behavior, attributing these to the rise in family breakdowns and poverty. Bishop Asiimwe delivered this message during his sermon at Kyatoko Church of Uganda in the Rujumbura Archdeaconry, as part of his pastoral visit.
He emphasized that addiction to alcohol hinders personal and community development, urging Christians to engage in income-generating activities to improve their families’ well-being. The bishop also stressed the importance of family unity, highlighting that misunderstandings arise when men leave the burden of work to women, leading to domestic violence and eventual family breakups.
During the visit, Bishop Asiimwe confirmed 200 Christians into the Anglican faith, with many more committing their lives to Christ. He expressed gratitude for the spiritual revival he witnessed, as numerous individuals accepted Jesus as their personal Savior.
The bishop also called on believers to embrace repentance, reminding them that churches are always open for prayer and reconciliation.
Muhimbise Danis, the lay leader of Kyatoko Church, congratulated the confirmants, encouraging them to adhere to their teachings and remain close to the church for a bright future.
