The Bishop of South Ankole Diocese, Rt Rev Nathan Ahimbisibwe, has urged preachers to refocus their teachings in churches, emphasizing the importance of reminding people about the biblical commandments. He believes that many Christians are straying because they have forgotten their obligations to follow these commandments.
Speaking at the burial of Manjeri Rubajugata in Ngomba, Rugarama sub-county, Ntungamo district, Bishop Ahimbisibwe highlighted the casual attitude towards sinning among Christians. He stressed that a significant number of believers fail to recall the principles that define their faith according to the Bible.
Bishop Ahimbisibwe emphasized the need for church leaders to revive teachings on the commandments to reinforce Christians’ understanding of their responsibility to adhere to God’s will for genuine faith to flourish.
Furthermore, he condemned the mistreatment of elders in society, noting instances where elderly individuals, including parents, are neglected due to challenges associated with old age.
Ms Saidat Tushabe, the Rugarama sub-county councilor, also raised concerns about the escalating cases of gender-based violence, highlighting a disturbing trend where women are increasingly becoming the perpetrators. She noted that many incidents of men being abused by their wives go unreported, indicating a need for greater awareness and intervention in such cases.
