Bishop Gaddie Akanjuna of the Diocese of Kigezi emphasized the importance of education for a promising future during the confirmation ceremony of 60 individuals into the Anglican faith at St. James Nyamyerambiko Church of Uganda parish in Kyanamira sub-county, Kabale district.
He urged parents to ensure their children complete their education, citing concerns over high dropout rates. Akanjuna stressed that education is a crucial investment for both individuals and communities, expressing the need for parents to actively support their children until graduation. He deemed it unacceptable to enroll a child in school without ensuring they attain certification, emphasizing the collective responsibility to nurture children’s potential.
In his sermon, Reverend Just Ayebare, the Kigezi Diocesan treasurer, encouraged Christians to trust in Jesus Christ, drawing inspiration from the parable of the mustard seed found in Matthew 13:31-32.
He underscored the transformative power of faith, likening the Kingdom of Heaven to a mustard seed that grows into a significant plant. Rev. Ayebare urged believers to maintain unwavering faith in the Lord, even amidst life’s challenges, highlighting Jesus’ promise of blessings for those who believe in Him, irrespective of their circumstances.
