The Rt. Rev. Nathan Ahimbisibwe, Bishop of South Ankole Diocese is the new president of the Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade of Uganda (BGB), a position he took over officially during the National Council Sitting at Namirembe Resource Centre (NAREC) on June 17th 2022, in Kampala.

He took over leadership from Rtd Rt Rev. Dr. William Rukirande, Bishop Emeritus of Diocese of Kigezi who served the Brigade diligently.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe told the council that he joined the Boys’ Brigade as a child and was promoted to a rank of a Lance- Corporal because of his leadership skills as well as band playing.

Bishop Ahimbisibwe pledged to rejuvenate and fortify the Brigade and to ensure that it is planted in the entire Church of Uganda Dioceses and beyond.

Rev Canon Evatt Mugarura, the Chairman, National BGB Executive Committee disclosed that BGB Uganda will host this year’s International Boys’ and Girls’ Brigade Conference ( Global Fellowship) from August 17 to 19, 2022 in Kampala which will attract officers from all over the world.

Uganda currently has close to 10,000 Brigade members.
