Rt. Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale, both members of the People’s Progressive Front (PPF), are expected to appear before the High Court this morning for a bail hearing.
The two have been on remand since November last year, facing charges of treason alongside UPDF Captain Dennis Ola. The prosecution alleges that the trio committed acts intended to overthrow the government of Uganda.
While the case has already been committed to the High Court for trial, Besigye and Lutale have applied to be released on bail. Justice Emmanuel Baguma is set to preside over the hearing.
