Police in Mbarara has this morning recovered an abandoned pistol with 13 rounds of ammunition along the Mbarara Kabale road.
ASP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region police spokesman says the pistol was abandoned by unknown people near the Mbarara University of Science and Technology main gate.
Kasasira says the Pistol belongs to Mr.Ssemugenyi Julius 36, a businessman and resident of Karora cell Rugando sub-county Rwampara district.
Ssemugenyi claims he was waylaid by unknown assailants who assaulted and robbed him of his pistol as he was traveling back home at 04:00 AM this morning
Kasasira says inquiries into the matter have been opened and the pistol exhibited at CPS Mbarara until investigations are concluded.
