A total of 75 civil servants in Rukungiri district are set to retire before the financial year 2023/2024.
They included teachers, health workers, and environmental workers, among others.
Among these, 30 are going on early retirement and 45 are going on a mandatory retirement after hitting retirement age.
All these 75, on Thursday gathered at the district council hall where the Rukungiri district chief Administrative officer Hajj Masokoi Waswa had invited them for a meeting to thank them for the work well done and to brief them on how to get their pension
Masokoi thanked them for diligently serving the nation, noting that their work has profoundly contributed to the development of Rukungiri.
He also challenged them to support government institutions in their respective areas and be good agents in the mindset change campaign as a way of supporting the development
According to Ivan Tumwebaze the Rukungiri district personnel, these people will officially retire on 1st July 2023. He promised to ensure that their pension is paid on time.
Teacher Steven Mugyere a retiree hailed the office of the chief administrative officer for the good relationship with civil servants which he said has helped them to serve their term very well.
He vowed to keep supporting government programs in his retirement.
