A total of 6,686 candidates from various schools in Rukungiri District are set to sit for the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), according to the District Secretary for Education, Commercial Services, and Tourism, Mrs. Musiimenta Keredonia Bakironda.

In an interview with our reporter today at the Rukungiri District Headquarters, Mrs. Keredonia confirmed that all candidates have been adequately prepared and are ready for the exams. She condemned the practice of chasing candidates for school fees during examination periods, urging school authorities to resolve such matters well in advance.

Additionally, she urged parents of P7 candidates to ensure that their children have all the necessary items for PLE, including enough pens, mathematical sets, and pencils. Mrs. Keredonia also highlighted the importance of arranging for candidates to have lunch near the examination centers to better manage their time.

She advised candidates to use the remaining time to prepare thoroughly and avoid engaging in examination malpractice, emphasizing that cheating could lead to the cancellation of results and harm their future.

Mrs. Bakironda also encouraged invigilators and supervisors to carry out their duties in a way that doesn’t intimidate candidates, noting that standing directly behind candidates can cause unnecessary anxiety. She urged them to focus on preventing malpractice while ensuring exams proceed smoothly.

According to the 2024 PLE timetable, candidates will be briefed on November 4th, and exams will officially take place on November 6th and 7th.
