Five people hailing from Bunyarigi, in Bushenyi district have perished this , morning in a grisly accident along the Kampala-Masaka highway.
The accident according to SP Faridah Nampiima the Traffic Police department spokesperson five persons occurred at around 4:30am at Kyalusowe swamp along the Masaka- Kampala highway.
It involved motor vehicle registration no UBH 902U (fuso fighter) which was traveling from Masaka side heading to Kampala and motor vehicle reg no UBE 756C (Toyota wish) whose occupants died on spot.
Namppima identified the occupants of the motor vehicle as NO. 65577 PC Bwesigye Cleopus, a police officer attached to the Crime Intelligence department of Katwe Police station in Kampala, together with his family members, identified as Nyagoma Silomena 3, Nyakato Falestine 3, Kiiza Darliton 1, Kemigisha Maria Gorreti, a female adult and Twesigye Chrispus 31.
Nampiima adds that the bodies have been conveyed to Masaka City Mortuary for postmortem examination.
The cause of the accident has been attributed to the driver of the Toyota wish who left his lane causing a head-on collision
“We continue to remind all road users to be vigilant while using the roads and further call upon all road users to change their attitude while using the road” she added.
