High Court in Rukungiri presided over by the Resident Judge Justice Tom Chemutai yesterday sentenced a 44-year-old man to 40 years in jail for committing murder.
Mugisha Sulaimani a resident of Rwenshama Fishing Village, Bwambara trading center, Bwambara Sub County, Rukungiri District who migrated from Kangyezi cell, Rutoto Sub County, Rubirizi District was a renowned witch doctor dealing with Mutabazi Sulaimani alias Sula 57 years who was operating a butchery in Bwambara trading center.
On 20th April 2022, Mugisha Sulaimani invited Sula to his home and he went missing until his body was retrieved wrapped in a sack in a swamp near Rwenshama fishing village.
Justice Tom Chemutai noted that Mugisha Sulaimani was supposed to be sentenced to life imprisonment but he pleaded guilty, apologized to the affected family, and asked for a lenient punishment,
He sentenced him to 40 years considering the one year he has spent on remand.
Mugisha’s co-accused are his wife Kesande Shallon 25 and a 17-year-old minor who is currently in a remand home Kabale.
Their case was adjourned until 20th April 2023.
