Police in Kabale District are investigating the circumstances surrounding two separate suspected suicide incidents reported on the morning of March 16, 2026.

The first incident involved Michael Twesigomwe, who was found hanging from an avocado tree at Rwamucumo Cell, Nyakasharara Parish in Kamuganguzi Sub-county. According to preliminary police reports, Twesigomwe is believed to have taken his life using a rope sometime between March 15 and March 16, 2026, at an unknown time.

Twesigomwe, a resident of Makanga Cell in Kabale Municipality, was reportedly working as a shamba boy at the home where the incident occurred. He was discovered hanging from an avocado tree within his employer’s compound. The motive behind the incident remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing.

In a separate case, Benson Twinomuhangi was found dead after allegedly hanging himself from a eucalyptus tree in a garden at Kyambinga Village, Ntarabana Parish in Buhara Sub-county, Kabale District. Police say he was found hanging using a shirt.

According to preliminary information, Twinomuhangi had reportedly been experiencing mental health challenges intermittently.

Police officers from the Central Police Station (CPS) Kabale visited both scenes to document evidence, and postmortem examinations were conducted as part of the ongoing investigations.

Police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, ASP Elly Maate, urged members of the public to seek help from relevant authorities when facing challenges instead of resorting to taking their own lives.
