Police in Rukungiri have arrested 3 suspects in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 15′ year old girl to death and causing critical injury to another girl.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police spokesman has identified the deceased as Arinda Valeria Trassy a Pupil at Unity Primary school while Catherine Mercy is nursing wounds.
Both victims are residents of Kyebumbire cell Burombe parish Ruhinda sub county Rukungiri district.
Maate says that on 08/08/2022 at around 10:00PM, at Kyebumbire cell, one Mundekye Dafuroza left her grandchildren in her house revising their notes as she went to check on her sick sister in law in the neighborhood.
While still there, she heard an alarm coming from the direction of her home.
She immediately rushed there and upon arrival she found the deceased lying in the compound with a deep stab wound on the chest
The second victim was also lying in the compound with injuries on the left arm and she revealed to the grandmother how they were attacked by thugs who attempted to steal mattresses from their house.
The deceased and the second victim had made an alarm to dissuade the attackers but the thugs stabbed them and took off
The survivor was rushed to a nearby clinic.
Police was notified by Denis Tayebwa, at Ruhinda Police station,
Maate says the crime scene visited and documented, the body was taken to Rwakabengo Health center 3 mortuary for Postmortem.
Three suspects are being held to help with investigations.
