Over 17 million shillings in cash and pledges, 14 bags of cement and trips of sand were on Sunday 30th October 2022 raised towards the renovation of Kabura Primary School in Kabwoma Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri District.
This was raised during a fundraising mass led Father Conrad Atuhaire of Christ the King Rukungiri organized by the RDC Masindi district Emmy Ngabirano at Kabura hiika in Kabwoma Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County.
Fr. Atuheire condemned alcoholism among christians and rallied them to value education
He also advised them to plan for whatever they intend to do instead of relying on and begging politicians all the time
Kabura Primary School ,established in the 1980’S is a government aided school operating in dilapidated infrastructure .
Emmy Ngabirano affirmed that as the old boy of the school, he took the initiative to organize a fundraising intended to facelift, procure furniture and sanitary facilities to ease teaching and improve enrolment.
The district Secretary for Education, Commercial Services and Tourism Musimenta Cleodonia Claire who represented government asked parents to send their children to the school to enable government extend more support .
The School headmistress Kiconco Pamela noted that they are operating amidst challenges of insufficient water supply , staff quarters, latrines and dusty classrooms,
She appreciated the fundraisers saying their efforts will go a long way to improve the situation.
Among the notable contributions, Dennis Bariyo Mishambi ,a staunch NRM supporter from kabwoma Parish and his team made a contribution of shillings 5m
The Rujumbura County MP Hon Jim Muhwezi contributed 5 million, while the Rukungiri Woman Legislator Hon Midius Natukunda Kaharata contributed 10 bags of cement among others.
