Police in Rubirizi District have started investigations into circumstances under which a 13-year-old poisoned himself to death
The deceased has been identified as Alinanye Emmanuel a 13-year-old pupil at Future Stars Primary school, and a resident of Kilembe village, Mwongyera parish Katerera sub-county, Katerera county in Rubirizi District.
The incident happened yesterday at 8:40 am when the deceased was sent back home by the school authorities to collect fees.
While at home he told his young brother called Amanyire Godwin aged 11 years that rats have damaged his pair of shorts and he was going to buy rat poison to kill them.
The deceased picked up money from the drawer while his mother was in the garden and went to the nearby shop where he bought the rat poison.
However, instead of poisoning the rats he took it and started vomiting as his young brother called people for help, the victim was rushed to Katerera Medical center for treatment where he died on the arrival.
Marcial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson said police visited the scene and the body was conveyed to Rugazi Health Center IV for Postmortem.
