A total of 1000 trees are set to be planted in a yet-to-be-identified area in Kabale District during international youth week as the country celebrates National Youth Day.

International Youth Day was Declared by the United Nations on 12 August 2000 to draw worldwide focus toward various issues surrounding the youths.

According to the United Nations, the theme for this year is Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.

According to Bernard Mwambara, the Administrator for the National youth council Secretariat, the trees are from the Ministry of Water and Environment.

As a way of observing the day, the Assistant Commissioner of Youth and Children in the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Mondo Kyateeka, says that from 5th to 11th August this year, different activities including dialogue on the theme, community engagements by the youth, Topical discussions on Accelerating Recovery from Covid-19 and Full Implementation of the 2030 Agenda: The Role of the Youths will take place in Kabale District.
