Leaders of the Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) in the greater Bushenyi region are mourning the passing of their former Secretary General, the late Cecilia Ogwal.
Elly Ahabwe Rukiira, the chairman of UPC in the greater Bushenyi region, described the late Ogwal as a self-principled individual who worked towards the unity of all Ugandans. He emphasized that Ogwal was one of the few UPC members who knew Bushenyi District thoroughly and was always available in times of need.
Miria Muhwezi, the national woman leader for UPC, remembered the late Ogwal as a dedicated advocate for the rights and freedom of the girl child. Muhwezi highlighted Ogwal’s eloquence and her love for democracy and the rule of law, which she considered core principles of the UPC party.
Aloysius Tibunyebiire, the former chairman of Bushenyi District UPC, expressed the loss of a friend who had tirelessly worked for the betterment of all Ugandans. He noted that since Ogwal crossed to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), the UPC party has missed her brilliant ideas that could have contributed to the development of the party.
