The residents of Southern Division in Kisoro Municipality are contemplating organizing a demonstration to voice their dissatisfaction with the dismal condition of roads, especially the Kisoro-Mgahinga road, which poses significant difficulties, particularly during the rainy season.
Agaba James, the Councilor for Southern Division LCV, underscores the prolonged neglect of roads in the region and urges the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) to address the deteriorating state of the Kisoro-Mgahinga road, particularly the section near Rusiza Market, opposite the Ambassador’s residence.
In response to these concerns, Kisoro Municipal Mayor Ndyana Richard mentions the municipality’s initiative to allocate a road fund exceeding 500 million shillings for the improvement of local roads such as Basumba Road and Mosque Road across all divisions.
However, Ndyana acknowledges the challenges in capturing UNRA’s attention despite various efforts by local leaders. He emphasizes additional areas of concern, including the necessity to expand the Kisoro-Mutolere Road to mitigate frequent accidents. Ndyana assures residents that leaders are actively advocating for the timely implementation of these services, urging patience from the community.
