The Kanungu Territorial Police have registered two tragic incidents of sudden deaths involving bar attendants in the Matanda Trading Center, Kanungu District.
The first incident involved Babra Ninsiima, 27, a Munyankole bar attendant. On the morning of October 30, 2024, at approximately 9:00 am, Ninsiima reportedly began vomiting and complained of severe stomach pain. Her employer’s wife, identified as Mutesa, immediately rushed her to Kigezi Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Police officers from Kihihi Station responded to the scene, and her body was later transferred to the Kihihi Health Centre mortuary for a postmortem examination.
In the second incident, Promise Nabasiita, approximately 28 years old and a Muganda, also a bar attendant in Matanda Trading Center, died under distressing circumstances. At about 10:00 pm the same day, her employer, Emmanuel, received a call from Sunday, the chairman of the local boda boda stage, advising him to check on Nabasiita. Upon reaching her door, he reportedly heard her screaming from inside.
After breaking down the door, Nabasiita was found in critical condition. She was rushed to Kihihi Health Centre IV, where medical personnel pronounced her dead upon arrival.
Sources indicate Nabasiita had a history of what her acquaintances described as “demonic attacks,” and police suspect that her injuries may have been self-inflicted. A police team documented the scene, and a postmortem was conducted at Kihihi Health Centre IV.
The police have launched investigations into both deaths.
