Police in Rubanda are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Joab Muhwezi, a 39-year-old resident of Kigazi cell in Kakore parish, Hamurwa sub-county, Rubanda district.
According to reports, on December 12, 2023, the deceased left his home to visit Karukara market. While there, he entered the bar of an individual named Sunday, where he encountered his brother, Arinda Justus. Subsequently, Justus left that bar and proceeded to Gerigeri’s bar for reasons known only to him.
While at Gerigeri’s bar, Justus reportedly met two other brothers, Twijukye Arnold and Kyarigabira Bright. During their interaction, Arnold and Bright allegedly informed Justus that they were planning to commit a murder in their village of Kigazi. Unfortunately, on the same night, Joab Muhwezi was found murdered.
The area chairperson of Kigazi cell, Pulikalipu Kalimunda, filed a report, leading to the police visiting the scene to document the incident. A postmortem was conducted on-site, and the body was subsequently handed over to the deceased’s relatives for burial. Additionally, a panga with bloodstains, believed to be from a human body, was recovered as evidence from the home of one of the suspects, Arinda Justus.
All three suspects mentioned—Arinda Justus, Twijukye Arnold, and Kyarigabira Bright—have been apprehended for questioning as part of the ongoing inquiries into the case.
