The police in Kisoro are investigating an incident in which a teacher reportedly assaulted an 11-year-old pupil to death.
ASP Elly Maate the Kigezi region police spokesman says the incident was reported by the father of the deceased one Tumusiime Hillary 35 a boda boda rider and resident of Ruburankono village Gasiza parish Nyakabande sub-county,
Tumusiime claimed that his son Dan Gasore 11yrs was allegedly assaulted by one Pasco Hakizimana a teacher at Mutorole primary school who is now on the run.
Reports day on 09/03/2023 at Mutorole primary school at around 1600hours the deceased was assaulted by his teacher who whipped his head and back for allegedly not understanding what was being taught.
The pupil is said to have been to a clinic for treatment but his condition worsened and he was referred to Kisoro hospital for further treatment where he died a few minutes upon arrival.
Police were alerted, a case was registered, and the body was taken back to the hospital for postmortem which was done.
Maate says inquiries are at hand as efforts to trace the suspect arrested are being made.
