It was a joyous occasion as the Christians of St. John’s Kyatoko Church of Uganda warmly welcomed their 7th Reverend, Rev. Edson Ampeire, who was recently posted to the parish after serving as the Diocesan Missions Coordinator for North Kigezi Diocese for six years.
The congregation received him with gratitude, thanking God for his assignment and pledging their cooperation to advance the parish’s development.
Gershom Twesigye, the head of laity at St. John’s Kyatoko Parish, expressed their readiness and commitment to work with Rev. Edson to ensure that God’s work is effectively accomplished in the parish. He noted that the parish is administratively complete, comprising four sub-parishes: Kyatoko Church of Uganda, Nyamizi Church of Uganda, Kiziko Church of Uganda, and Rwanyakishozi Church of Uganda. The parish also boasts two lay canons, two diocesan pillars, and four lay readers, among other leaders. Twesigye highlighted Kyatoko Parish as development-oriented and expressed confidence that Rev. Edson’s leadership would propel them forward.
Ven. Dickson Kakanyisa, the Archdeacon of Rujumbura Archdeaconry, under which Kyatoko Parish falls, commended Rev. Edson for his impactful work as the Diocesan Missions Coordinator. He noted that Rev. Edson’s efforts had significantly enhanced spiritual revival in North Kigezi Diocese. Kakanyisa encouraged the Christians to embrace Rev. Edson and utilize his gifts to transform their spiritual lives.
Tumwesigire Samson Karuhehe, the Head of Laity for Kyatoko Church of Uganda Parish Kampala Fellowship, thanked the North Kigezi Diocese leadership for assigning Rev. Edson to their parish. He appealed to Rev. Edson to prioritize the youth, emphasizing their role as the future of the church. Karuhehe expressed optimism that Rev. Edson’s experience as the Diocesan Missions Coordinator would bring spiritual revival to their parish.
In his address, Rev. Edson Ampeire expressed gratitude to the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese for his new appointment and vowed to serve God tirelessly. He pledged to collaborate with the Christians to foster development in the parish while enhancing spiritual revival.
