During the 1st Annual General Meeting of Rwenshaka SACCO revival, held at the Rwenshaka market ground in Ruhinda Sub County, Rukungiri District on Saturday, March 9th, 2024, members passed a vote of no confidence against the Assistant Chairperson of the Board and the Treasurer, compelling them to resign from their positions.

The decision came amidst accusations of corruption and compromised integrity against the duo, particularly in light of the revelation that Rwenshaka SACCO had declared a profit of over 11 million shillings. Posiano Ngabirano presented evidence indicating that on February 2nd, 2024, the resigned Treasurer, Natuhwera Moses, and Kakore Emmanuel solicited a bribe of 100,000/= to secure the release of Nuwagaba Catherine, the former cashier detained for embezzling 8,800,000/= of SACCO funds.

Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom, the Deputy Rukungiri Resident Commissioner and representative of the Area Member of Parliament, who also serves as the Security Minister, urged members to fully support their SACCO and seek assistance whenever necessary.

Ms. Atuhaire Caroline, the Rukungiri District Senior Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of integrity and transparency in the elections. Posiano Ngabirano and Asiimwe Innocent were elected as Board members, and guidance was provided on the replacement of the Vice Chairperson and Treasurer.

Mugarura Henry, the Chairperson of the Board of Rwenshaka SACCO and the newly appointed overseer of the President’s Office SACCOs and PDM, highlighted past achievements and plans, encouraging members to actively participate in SACCO operations for accelerated development.

Posiano Ngabirano, the Proprietor of Capital Shoppers and Chairperson of the Promoter’s Board of Rwenshaka SACCO, called for strong support and issued a stern warning against any wrongdoing within the SACCO, asserting that perpetrators would be apprehended with the assistance of government authorities.

While expressing dissatisfaction with former SACCO workers involved in embezzlement, including Mucunguzi Evaristo, Atuhurire Alex, Muhumuza Alex, and others, who collectively obtained over 150 million shillings, Posiano Ngabirano assured members that they would soon be apprehended with the support of government forces.

Ahimbisibwe Wilberforce Ongom instructed the Officer in Charge of Rwenshaka Police post to arrest Natuhwera Moses and Ngabirano Justus, husband of Nuwagaba Catherine, and bring them in for interrogation on Monday to address allegations of bribery raised during the meeting.
