Residents of Kyomera and Ihindiro villages in Nyarwimuka parish, Ruhinda sub-county, Rujumbura constituency, Rukungiri district are expressing their dissatisfaction with the ongoing construction of Kabashumba bridge.

Incent Byaruhanga, the LC1 chairperson of Kyomera village, has voiced concerns about the substandard pipes being used in the construction, raising doubts about the quality of the work.

Some residents have criticized the scope of the project, citing concerns about the inferior quality of materials such as cement and bars. They are urging district authorities to halt the construction to prevent the completion of a poorly executed bridge.

The engineer involved in the project, who chose to remain anonymous, admitted that the work being done was substandard. He revealed that the district failed to provide sufficient materials, forcing them to make do with inadequate resources.

Residents emphasize the importance of the bridge for the transportation of people, goods, and services. They call on the government to ensure that the construction meets the required standards.

Furthermore, women from Ihindiro village have highlighted the challenges they face in accessing Bikurungu Health Centre 3 due to the poor condition of the nearby Kyabashumba road. They urge district authorities not to overlook the substandard construction of the bridge.
