Rev. James Twebaze, the Parish Priest of St. Peter’s Mutaturwa Church of Uganda in the North Kigezi Diocese, has urged alumni of Rwabihurwa Primary School to strengthen unity and uphold the integrity of their school. This appeal was made during the handover ceremony of 12 twin-seater furniture donated by the family of the Late Canon Peter Rwabihurwa, held at the Rwabihurwa Primary School premises on Monday, July 22, 2024.
Rwabihurwa Primary School was founded by the Late Canon Peter Rwabihurwa in 1955 as a church school and was officially enrolled by the government in 1967. It received a national award in 1965 for outstanding performance at the Junior level, the equivalent of the Secondary Level at that time.
Rev. Twebaze noted that his deployment to St. Peter’s Mutaturwa Church found the school in urgent need of learning equipment. He commended the alumni for their support and encouraged those who have not yet contributed to join in the effort to maintain the school’s standards.
Frank Arinaitwe Mabwa, the Vice Chairperson of LC3 Kebisoni Sub County and a prospective LC3 Chairperson in the upcoming general elections praised the alumni of Rwabihurwa Primary School for complementing government efforts with the donation of furniture. He advocated for ongoing support to further enhance the school’s facilities.
Julius Mujuni, the PTA Chairperson, recognized the voluntary contributions of the alumni towards improving educational standards at the school and assured continued cooperation.
Glorious Natamba Turigye, the Headmistress of Rwabihurwa Primary School, welcomed the donation and highlighted the furniture shortage. She expressed gratitude, stating that the new furniture will improve comfort for learners and contribute to their success.
Rukundo Paul Rwabihurwa, a family representative, emphasized the family’s commitment to supporting the alumni in preserving the school’s reputation.
The Rwabihurwa Primary School Old Boys and Girls Association is dedicated to supporting the school with welfare initiatives, examination tests, furniture, and infrastructure rehabilitation.
