Rev. Kamusiime Moses, Vicar for Emmanuel Cathedral in Kinyasano North Kigezi Diocese, has urged married couples to prioritize love and unity as a means of fostering family development, despite challenges.

Rev. Kamusiime made these remarks during his sermon at Kiyaga Church of Uganda in Kinyasano Deanery, North Kigezi Diocese, where Christians were celebrating St. Peter’s Day. He highlighted the importance of fulfilling familial and church responsibilities, criticizing some men for neglecting their duties both at home and within the church.

He linked domestic violence to men who fail to collaborate with their wives to promote development in their homes. Rev. Kamusiime encouraged men to emulate St. Peter, who he described as hardworking and God-fearing.

Patrick Nahwera, Chairperson of the Fathers’ Union, echoed Rev. Kamusiime’s sentiments, praising St. Peter as a model for supporting both families and the church. He also announced that the Fathers’ Union plans to start a rental construction project to boost their income and support their parish.

In a message read by Mrs. Precious Mwesigwa, District Lady for Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Counsel Isaac Atukunda, who was the intended guest of honor, urged men to love God, be active in church, support their wives, and fulfill their responsibilities at home and in the church.

During the celebrations, a total of 5,325,900 UGX was raised to support the commencement of the rental construction project for the Fathers’ Union.
