Rev. Edson Ampaire, the Missioner for the North Kigezi Diocese, has expressed concern that men remain hesitant to actively participate in church activities, despite the diocese’s efforts to promote spiritual revival. He made these remarks yesterday during the closing ceremony of the Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry Conference at Kyabugashe Church of Uganda Parish, North Kigezi Diocese.
Rev. Ampaire emphasized the importance of men attending church in greater numbers, stating that everyone is in need of God’s mercy. He highlighted that their primary focus is on combating Satan and ensuring a renewal of faith among Christians. He also announced that additional conferences will be held in October at Rubirizi Archdeaconry, in November at Nyakina Church of Uganda, and in December at Bugangari.
During the event, preachers including Patience Mwesigwa, Ordnand Counselor Philip Baitwa, and Mr. Oscar Kagonyera urged Christians to refrain from sinning in order to maintain a strong relationship with God. They stressed the significance of performing good deeds, leading a prayerful life, and practicing forgiveness as essential in the battle against Satan.
Rev. Arthur Omara, the priest at Kyabugashe Church of Uganda Parish, responded to the issue of low male attendance by stating that the church is taking steps to attract men by assigning them responsibilities that will keep them engaged in church activities.
Ven. Canon Eldard Kashanje, the Archdeacon for Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, encouraged clergy members to first accept Jesus as their savior and then preach the gospel of salvation, which he believes is crucial in preventing sin from taking hold in people’s hearts.
Muhwezi Edson Mpirime, the head of laity for Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, praised the North Kigezi Diocese’s 6th Bishop, the Right Reverend Onesmus Asiimwe, for his dedication to promoting revival and renewal, which he said is winning the hearts of many and leading them to the light of salvation.
