Residents of Kayungwe Sub-County in Kanungu District have raised concerns over the poor state of roads in their area.

They say that traveling from one place to another has become increasingly difficult due to the slippery, pothole-ridden roads, which have also led to increased transport costs.

Anthlem Muhanguzi, a resident of Kayungwe, expressed his frustration, noting that accessing health services has become a challenge since the hospitals are located far away in Rugeyo. As a farmer, he also highlighted the difficulty of transporting agricultural produce to markets and homes due to the poor road conditions.

Albiano Muchunguzi, the Kayungwe Sub-County councilor, acknowledged the concerns, stating that poor road conditions remain a major challenge. He explained that while the Sub-County leadership has conducted a survey to assess the roads, the available funds are insufficient to carry out the necessary repairs. He, therefore, called upon the responsible authorities to intervene and address the issue.

In response, Samuel Kajojo, the LC5 Chairperson of Kanungu District, urged residents to remain patient. He reassured them that once road funds are disbursed, the district committee will prioritize road maintenance.

He confirmed that the authorities are aware of the situation in Kayungwe but emphasized that other tasks across the district also require attention.
