Residents of Nyeibingo Parish in Kebisoni Sub County, Rukungiri District, have expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of action to rehabilitate their road, despite their efforts in preparing it for grader leveling.
Recently, residents from the Kahangiro, Katenga, and Nyeibingo cells participated in communal work with Sub County authorities to remove tree stumps to facilitate grader operations. However, since completing this task, no further action has been taken.
Fred Turyahikayo, the Chairperson of LC1 for Kahangiro Cell, lamented the wasted resources and manpower invested in removing the stumps, as no grader has been deployed as promised. He criticized the situation as a waste.
Canon John Bakwaate, a senior citizen in the area, questioned the management of funds allocated for road construction over several financial years. He also criticized local leaders for continuously reporting a shortage of graders.
Frank Mabwa, the Vice Chairperson of LC3 for Kebisoni Sub County, urged district authorities responsible for grader operations to prioritize Kebisoni Sub County. He noted that they have had fuel allocated for grader operations for the past two financial years, but the community continues to suffer due to the lack of grading.
