The officer in charge of Mabanga Police Post, Afande Karyeija Naboth, has called upon residents of Kebisoni Sub County to actively support local council leaders in the implementation of community policing initiatives aimed at strengthening public safety.
Speaking during a community policing engagement held at Dubai Trading Centre, organized by community mobilizer Frank Mabwa, Afande Naboth expressed concern over men neglecting their voluntary roles in maintaining public order, instead leaving the burden of security solely to local councils and police. He urged residents, especially men, to take an active role in ensuring peace and stability within their communities.
The event drew large community participation, which Frank Mabwa applauded, attributing the turnout to growing public interest in security matters. He emphasized continuous community awareness and involvement to strengthen crime prevention.
Musinguzi Joshua, the Gombolola Internal Security Officer (GISO) for Kebisoni Sub County, condemned the growing trend of overnight bar operations with poor attendance, calling them a security risk. He urged increased vigilance and enforcement of responsible nightlife.
Byensi Demiano, chairperson of Dubai Trading Center, rallied residents to unite against crime, citing that most criminal activities affecting the area originate from within the trading center itself.
As a resolution, the meeting endorsed new bylaws aimed at enhancing local security. These include regulating bar operations to open only at noon and close by 10 PM, banning idle and disorderly conduct, and suspending gambling activities. A community security team was selected to enforce the agreed-upon measures.
