Police in Rubirizi District have launched investigations into a case where a 30-year-old woman was allegedly raped by two unknown individuals.
The incident occurred on January 3, 2025, at approximately 10:50 PM in Ndekye Ward, Rubirizi Town Council, Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Penelope Nuwasasira, a 30-year-old slot machine attendant and resident of Ndekye Ward, Rubirizi Town Council.
According to reports, two unidentified men entered the victim’s workplace armed with a panga and a hammer. They demanded money and thoroughly searched the premises but failed to find any cash. One of the suspects then grabbed the victim, cut her light blue jeans at the zipper, forcibly removed them, and sexually assaulted her.
Tumusiime stated that the victim’s torn jeans and underwear have been recovered and will be used as evidence. He added that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects.
