Parents of children with disabilities in Kabale District have been urged to treat them with fairness and love to help them reach their full potential.

This call was made during the inauguration of a new home for Cherished and Redeemed Kabale, a rehabilitation center for children with various disabilities located in Rwamukundi Cell, Central Division, Kabale District.

Ronald Ian Mugisha, the Deputy Speaker of Kabale District Local Government, highlighted that some parents tend to neglect their children with disabilities, often keeping them at home and depriving them of life’s opportunities.

The founders of the center, Cornelia Girnet and Justus Buhisya, a senior occupational therapist at Kabale Regional Referral Hospital, noted that their vision was inspired by the struggles of many children with disabilities in the Kigezi sub-region to access a higher quality of living.

Local leaders, including Counsel Eliab Mporera, Mackline Batware, LC3 Chairman of Southern Division, and Sam Arineitwe, the LC3 Chairman of Central Division in Kabale Municipality, praised the project, stating that it would complement government efforts to support vulnerable groups.

Cherished and Redeemed Ministries was established in 2022 to provide rehabilitation services to children with special needs and to equip their families with the necessary resources to thrive.
