Parents have been urged to safeguard their children’s discipline and behaviour by keeping them engaged with meaningful responsibilities during the forthcoming long holiday.

The call was made by Buyanja SACCO Manager, Madam Olive Nayebare, who served as guest of honour at the nursery graduation ceremony of Rukungiri Universal Primary School.

Nayebare, an old girl of the school, expressed gratitude to the founders for their unwavering support toward education. She applauded the school’s leadership and administration for maintaining high standards and providing quality education services.

She congratulated the pupils who successfully graduated from the nursery section and commended parents for choosing Rukungiri Universal as a trusted institution for their children. Nayebare, however, emphasized the need for parents to give children responsibilities during the long holiday to prevent idleness and protect their discipline and behaviour.

As a parent herself, she cautioned fellow parents against frequently transferring children from one school to another, saying constant changes in a child’s learning environment can be harmful to their development.

The school headteacher, Mr. Kenneth Nayebare, also appreciated parents, the administration board, and the surrounding community for their continuous support toward learners and staff. He congratulated the graduates and confirmed that the ceremony marked their transition from nursery to the primary section.

While acknowledging parents’ efforts, he encouraged them to continue guiding their children during the holiday by promoting discipline, ensuring their safety, and assigning them responsibilities that will help them stay focused as they pursue their education and future dreams.

During the same event, All Saints Church Archdeacon, Ven. Can. Bosco Wasswa, delivered a sermon in which he thanked parents for showing love and providing essential needs for their children’s proper upbringing. He urged them to continue instilling discipline and responsibility in their children while closely following their educational journey, noting that education remains the surest path to securing a bright future.
