Over twenty-one million four hundred thousand shillings and 50 bags of cement in cash and pledges have been raised at a fundraising event for Kakonkoma Church of Uganda, aimed at continuing the ongoing construction of the church in Southern Division, Rukungiri Municipality.

Representing the Minister of Security, Hon. Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi, as the guest of honor, Nyabushozi County legislator Hon. Wilson Kanjwengye thanked the Christians of Kakonkoma Church of Uganda for their support in the construction efforts. He delivered a contribution of 5 million shillings from Minister Muhwezi and personally purchased a cow for 3 million shillings to further support the work of God.

Rukungiri Municipality legislator Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahigwa expressed his admiration for the Christians’ contributions towards their church construction, noting that the project is nearly halfway completed even before the fundraising event. This, he said, reflects their unity and love for God.

Counsel Isaac Atukunda, General Secretary of the Uganda Law Society and Vice Chancellor of North Kigezi Diocese, who is also vying for the Rukungiri Municipality legislator seat, pledged 50 bags of cement. He remarked that there is no loss in working for God.

Preaching at the fundraising ceremony, Rev. Erick Baingana Mugyenzi, North Kigezi Diocesan Secretary, encouraged Christians to always give back to God, acknowledging His protection amidst life’s challenges. He urged them to remember their setbacks and give thanks to God as an act of thanksgiving.

Rev. Andrew Mwijuka, Parish Priest of Kakonkoma Church of Uganda, expressed gratitude to Christians, guests, and well-wishers who contributed to the fundraising event. The church’s expansion, estimated at 556 million shillings, is underway with the support of Mr. Frank Muramura, Director of Kings Way High School Kampala, Rev. Edson Ampaire, North Diocesan Missioner, and the Rukungiri business community and political leaders among other well-wishers.
