The territorial police in Kabale are investigating an accident that claimed the life of a two-month-old infant and left seven others injured. The incident occurred today at around 10:00 AM at Kabaraga, along the Kabale-Mbarara road in Kabale district.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace minibus, registration number UBK 650N, which operates on the Kasese-Kabale route. According to reports, the vehicle was traveling from Mbarara towards Kabale when it lost control and overturned, causing the tragic incident.

ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the casualties. The injured passengers include Saturina Katusiime (20), a resident of Kakinga; Gadi Nabataki (43), a resident of Kisasi in Kabale; Alice Biira (47), from Rwesikambu; Rose Komugabe (49), from Mitooma district; Prudence Kyarisima (27); Precious Ayebezibwe (11); and a man identified only as Turyamutunga. Tragically, the deceased was identified as Mikiel Turyamureba, a two-month-old infant.

ASP Maate urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads and ensure regular vehicle servicing to prevent such accidents.

The scene was visited by ASP Mucunguzi Wilson and his team, who coordinated rescue efforts. The injured were rushed to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital using the hospital ambulance, while the body of the deceased was taken to the hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
