Nyakibale Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Conrad Atuhaire, has called on parents to prioritize supporting schools within their communities rather than sending children to distant institutions. He made the appeal on 19th August 2025 while addressing pupils, parents, teachers of Katooma Primary School, and all Catholic headteachers of Nyakibale Parish during a visit to the school.
Fr. Conrad emphasized that investing in local schools benefits both the children and the community, as children can receive quality education close to home. He also encouraged pupils to maintain discipline and commit to hard work, noting that many successful Ugandans attribute their achievements to dedication and focus on their studies.
Henry Byarugaba, Chairperson of the Nyakibale Parish Catholic Headteachers Association, explained that their inter-school visitations aim to foster mutual support among schools and improve academic performance. He said the visits allow headteachers to identify challenges affecting the host school and address at least one of them, while also building a network for collaboration and problem-solving.
Tibenderana Augustine Kayunga, Headteacher of Katooma Primary School, welcomed the visit, praising the support provided by the association, which he said would help the school overcome some of its challenges and enhance learning outcomes.
