The North Kigezi Diocesan Secretary, Rev. Muntrivu NshabaRuhanga, has urged individuals entrusted with authority to oversee church-founded institutions to execute their responsibilities diligently and avoid disappointing the Church through negligence that could lead to the decline of such institutions.

Rev. NshabaRuhanga made the appeal on Saturday, March 7, 2026, during the inauguration ceremony of the newly appointed Board of Governors and the handover ceremony at Kyabugashe High School in Rushasha Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub-county, Rukungiri District.

The newly appointed Board of Governors is chaired by Alfred Katabazi Mutuuza and includes Mwebesa Jackson Herbert, Abaasa Benjamini, Dr. Annet Ngabirano Alenyo and Turyomuriwe Irene representing the foundation body. Other members are Tumwebaze Jim and Baryaihaho Caleb representing parents, Ntunguura Gideon representing the Rukungiri District Chairperson (LC5), Mwesigwa Obed Mayanja representing the Sub-county Chairperson (LC3), and Akakinkunda Joan representing the old students.

Rev. NshabaRuhanga emphasized that the selected leaders have been entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding and promoting the sustainability and growth of this church-founded institution. He noted that some institutions are currently struggling due to poor oversight and weak coordination among governing bodies.

The Rukungiri District Principal Inspector of Schools, Ms. Kembabazi Peace, called upon school governing bodies to fully implement the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Sports as stipulated in the Education Act of 2008. She said adherence to these guidelines is vital in ensuring stability and preventing the decline of schools.

The newly appointed Board Chairperson, Alfred Katabazi Mutuuza, who previously served as the Rukungiri Municipal Council Education Officer, pledged to promote transparency in the school’s budgeting and management to improve standards and ensure the institution benefits all stakeholders.

Kamuntu Herbert, who has been appointed as the new head teacher and is expected to assume office soon after serving at Maama Janet Girls Secondary School in Ntungamo, also attended the ceremony and pledged to dedicate himself to creating a conducive environment that supports quality education.

Meanwhile, the outgoing head teacher, Arinaitwe Alivas, who has been transferred to Kisoro District, encouraged the new administration to maintain the school’s activities, particularly sports, noting that such programs have significantly contributed to the institution’s progressive development.
