The Minister for security Maj Gen Jim Muhwezi has ordered district and sub county internal security officers (DISOs and GISOs) to ensure the protection of government facilities that face general vandalism.
He says while it’s the role of local people to protect such facilities, the internal security organization (ISO) will partner with local governments to protect them from vandalism.
Hon Muhwezi was responding to a concers raised by the National water and sewerage corporation security officer Mr Adam Kyakuwa who said cases of vandalism of water facilities was crippling water extension in Western region
Kyakuwa noted that vandalism is eating up infrastructure including roads, railways, signposts and water facilities.
He was speaking yesterday at a fundraising function for Masya primary school in Nyakagyeme sub county Rukungiri district organized by the Bushenyi district woman MP Ms Anet Mugisha and fellow old students at the school.
Hon Muhwezi blamed the collapse of traditional schools on failures by the past government and the current economy saying the schools will be renovated when economy recovers.

The Chairperson Old students at the school Mr Patrick Behayo said the fundraising was aimed at collecting UShs 100M to build new staff houses. At least UShs 72M was realized.
