At least 370orphans and several vulnerable children from Kishaze village, Rwenyena parish Rubaya Sub County in Kabale district will have a reason to smile after the construction two classroom blocks consisting of 8 classrooms in the village.
The construction is bankrolled by the Lions clubs international to the Lions district 411B Uganda that funded two education projects in the country in Packwach and in Kabale.
The Rubaya project is implemented under three Lions clubs of Kabale, Kisoro and Ntungamo and shall cost Ushs 539.4M.
The immediate past district governor for the Lions clubs of Uganda Mr John Bosco Ntangare said the classrooms undergoing construction shall aid vulnerable children access quality school environment and also reduce the cost of education for the children who are mainly orphans.
Mr Ntaagare accompanied by several members of Lions clubs toured the project on Monday. The project is currently 61% complete with classrooms already erected.
He reiterated the importance of education to the rural vulnerable children saying this is the only way through which the children’s full potential can be realized.
Mr Nelson Atukwase, the Rubaya sub county chairperson said this was the first major donor project implemented in the sub county. He said its implementation shall change the village in which it is implemented, Kishaze which is the most rural in the sub county.
The Kishaze Orphans project, the recipient of the aid is implementing a school feeding program and children are also given scholastic materials as well as being encouraged to learn through many initiatives.
