The territorial police in Kisoro district are investigating the circumstances surrounding the suspected murder of a 40-year-old man, identified as Hategeka Bosco, a resident of Gasarara village, Soko Parish, Muramba Sub County.
Hategeka’s body was discovered early Saturday morning along the road at Kanyenka Trading Centre, near his home. According to preliminary reports, the deceased had left home on Friday evening at around 7:00 pm to attend a vigil of a relative in Rusenyi village. His wife, who was also preparing to attend another vigil in a nearby village, learnt of the tragedy the following morning when relatives informed her of the discovery of his body.
Police said that upon reaching the scene, they found Hategeka with a deep cut on the chin, chest injuries, and a heavy stone placed on his head. The canine unit was deployed but was unable to track the suspects.
The case was reported to Kisoro Central Police Station by George Haguma. The scene was processed and documented before the body was handed over to relatives for a decent burial after a crime scene examination.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, adding that investigations are underway to establish the motive and apprehend the suspects for prosecution.
