Residents of Kebisoni Town Council have expressed growing concern over the deteriorating condition of their public toilet, which poses a significant health risk. The facility, shared by both men and women, is in a dire state, raising fears among users.
Mary Tukamuhabwa, a hotel owner in Kebisoni Town Council, commonly known as “Aha Park,” voiced her distress, stating that the toilet situation is alarming. She noted that both men and women use the same facility, and the men’s section has developed structural fractures. She called on the government to intervene and provide a lasting solution.
Cleophas Ampeire, a butcher operating in the same area, echoed similar concerns, stating that the high population in the town council has placed immense pressure on the single toilet available. He added that users remain in constant fear, as even the remaining functional section could collapse at any time, endangering their lives.
Dan Twinamatsiko, the LC1 Chairperson of Kiborogota, confirmed that the toilet is in a deplorable condition. He mentioned that they had reported the issue to the town council, but no action has been taken despite the area generating tax revenue. He urged the government to step in and ensure residents receive essential services.
In response, Kebisoni Town Council Mayor Alex Mugabe reassured residents that authorities are aware of the situation and have made it a priority. He stated that efforts are underway to secure funds for repairs so that residents can access proper sanitation facilities.
