Leaders of Kanungu district on Friday officially inaugurated a 2-unit staff housing facility at Matanda Primary School in Kihihi Sub-county, valued at 193 million Ugandan shillings and constructed by Ishasha Ventures (U) LTD.
Simultaneously, they also commissioned a 3-classroom block with a staff room, along with 5-stance VIP latrines and a girls’ washroom at Kazinga Primary School in Nyanga Sub-County, totaling 190,736,380 Ugandan shillings, contracted by Extech Technical Services Ltd.
Hon. James Ruugi Kaberuka, the Legislator for Kinkiizi West County, expressed appreciation to the government of Uganda for investing in educational infrastructure in Kanungu district. He encouraged church leaders to continue supporting community development initiatives, such as improving rural roads and education. Additionally, he pledged to facilitate the installation of electricity infrastructure at Nyanga Primary School and assured the community of his dedication to completing the Nkunda SDA Primary School project, dismissing allegations of fund misappropriation.
Hon. Kaberuka advised aspiring Members of Parliament in Kinkiizi West to understand the allocation of government funds genuinely earmarked for development projects in the constituency, rather than engaging in rhetoric disconnected from the community’s needs.
Deputy RDC of Kanungu district, Gad Rugaju, echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of prioritizing service delivery over political campaigns. He commended the contractors for their exemplary work and urged for the promotion of local talent to ensure high-quality project execution.
Eng. Sam Arineitwe Kajojo praised Hon. James Kaberuka’s advocacy efforts in securing funding for projects in Kanungu Kinkiizi West. District Speaker Hon. Frank Byaruhanga called on head teachers to strive for academic excellence in government schools, utilizing the newly constructed facilities to enhance educational outcomes.
Sunday Charles, the Kanungu district education officer, congratulated Matanda and Nyanga Primary Schools on their new facilities and encouraged them to maximize their utilization to improve school performance.
