The consecration of Kabira Town Church in Kabira Archdeaconry, originally scheduled by the Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, Rt. Rev Johnson Twinomujuni, has been postponed due to the incomplete status of the church. The bishop announced this decision during a service held today at Kabira Town Church in Kabira Town Council, Mitooma district.

Bishop Twinomujuni emphasized the importance of not consecrating a church that is still under construction. He urged the congregation to prioritize completing the construction before organizing the consecration event. To support the effort, he encouraged Christians to contribute to the completion of the church and personally donated 2 million Uganda shillings.

During the event, Hon. Donozio Kahonda, the Member of Parliament for Ruhinda South, addressed the congregation. He urged them to celebrate Christmas with love and cautioned against engaging in activities that could jeopardize their well-being. Additionally, he advised them to avoid overspending during the festive season, considering the upcoming need to send their children back to school next year.

Michael Kasigazi, the Mayor of Kabira and Chairperson of the development committee of Kabira Town Church, announced plans to mobilize efforts to finish the construction of the church promptly, in accordance with the bishop’s directive. The congregation successfully raised over 9 million Uganda shillings for the completion of the church.
