Property worth over 80 Million shillings was this afternoon destroyed after several timber workshops and stores were engulfed in an inferno in Bugongi, northern division Kabale municipality.

According to Elly Maate the Kigezi region Police mouthpiece, the fire broke out around 01:10 PM   at Mundeeba in Lower Bugongi ward Northern Division.

The gutted timber workshop and stores belong to   Alex Nuwagaba, Patrick Ndamira, and Joseph Mukasa whose property that includes; timber, furniture, machines and other materials were destroyed.

Maate says fire and rescue services swiftly responded and put it off before it spread to other neighboring structures.

Maate attributed the inferno to an electric short circuit, saying some machines were left running yet unattended.

All employees of the razed workshops managed to flee to safety and no injuries were recorded.
