A married couple was caught engaging in inappropriate behavior in St. Peter’s Gisoro Catholic Parish toilets in Kisoro Municipality on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
A parishioner discovered the couple, identified as Mulenga Benon and his wife Nyiramahoro Adritte, residents of Gasheregenyi in Kanaba Sub-county, Kisoro District. They were discovered during the Morning Angelus Mass.
Vincent Sendegeya, a lay leader at Kabuga Catholic Hiika, stated that the couple was found involved in improper conduct within the parish toilets. He noted that this was not the first time such incidents had been reported at the parish and strongly condemned their behavior.
The couple explained that they had been directed by a pseudo-prophet from Kabale, identified as Sister Dushimimana Brenda. They claimed she had contacted them via phone and instructed them to visit the location for ritual cleansing to rid themselves of bad omens.
Kisoro District’s Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hagumimana Valence, criticized the couple’s actions and urged religious leaders to educate the public on proper conduct, emphasizing that God’s presence is not confined to specific locations.
