Authorities at Nyakibale Upper Primary School, a Government Aided institution situated in Eastern Division within Rukungiri Municipality, have expressed concerns regarding insufficient infrastructure to accommodate the growing number of students in the school.

With an enrollment exceeding 1400 pupils, as reported by the school’s Head Teacher, Mugisha Bruno, there is a pressing need for additional facilities. Bruno highlighted this during the celebration and commendation of the top-performing pupils of the 2023 Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE), where the school achieved commendable results with 89 pupils attaining Division One and 40 securing a second-grade placement, totaling 129 pupils who sat for the PLE Examinations.

Moreover, Bruno emphasized the necessity for computer resources to equip students with essential skills for academic advancement. He expressed gratitude towards the school board, staff, parents, pupils, as well as the church and other well-wishers for their collective efforts, which have contributed to the school’s remarkable performance.

Katabazi Alfred, the Municipal Education Officer of Rukungiri Municipality, commended the Head Teacher for his focused leadership, which has garnered respect from colleagues and facilitated the school’s outstanding achievements. Alfred also praised private schools for their exemplary performance, noting that it has fostered healthy competition and motivated Government aided schools to strive for better results.

Hon. Dr. Elisa Rutahirwa, the Member of Parliament for Rukungiri Municipality, extended congratulations to the school management, staff, parents, and pupils for their exceptional results. He acknowledged the challenges faced by Government aided schools, promising to address the issue of inadequate classrooms by advocating for increased budgets for high-performing schools. Rutahirwa encouraged the Head Teacher and staff to maintain the school’s legacy of excellence.
