NTUNGAMO:
Bishops of the Church of Uganda have today visited South Ankole Diocese in Ntungamo District to learn from the Diocese’s best practices in agriculture, land use, and self-sustainability.
The Bishops together with their spouses and a team from the Provincial Secretariat were led by the Archbishop of Church of Uganda and Bishop of the Diocese of Kampala, The Most Rev Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugalu, and were received by Rt Rev Nathan and Mama Lillian Ahimbisibwe of South Ankole Diocese.
On arrival, Archbishop Kaziimba did the groundbreaking for the proposed multi-storied Skilling Centre at the Diocesan Secretariat in Kyamate. The construction of this Centre is being championed by Mothers Union and it will have a Main Hall, a study center, and other facilities.
The Archbishop and Bishops were later taken to the Mothers’ Union Resource Centre, a multi-storied building under construction with 30 self-contained rooms to support the Diocese’s plan of self-sustainability.
Bishop Nathan Ahimbisibwe noted that the Diocese is progressing well from the time they decided to invest in coffee growing in 2019 and commended the government of Uganda through Uganda Coffee Development Authority, NAADS, and Operation Wealth Creation for supporting the Diocese in this endeavor.
According to Rev Edmund the Diocesan Household and Community Transformation officer, the Diocese has twenty acres of banana plantations, a modern fish pond, a hatchery with a capacity of 1000 chicks per week, SACCO, 80 acres of coffee at the Diocese headquarters and 300 acres of coffee at Church level, a very big mother’s Union Building which is the second biggest in Ntungamo, a hospital, and so much more. #churchofuganda #ankole #bishops
